How Leeds companies use invoice finance
Leeds has a large recruitment sector supplying staff to the city's legal, financial, healthcare and logistics sectors, and agencies placing temporary workers have a cash flow problem built into their model: they pay workers weekly but invoice clients on 30 days or longer. Invoice finance can help by advancing a large share of each invoice, often 80–90%, soon after it is raised, then paying the balance, less fees, once the client pays. The same approach helps manufacturers and distributors across West Yorkshire that sell to large retailers or contractors on extended terms. Facilities grow with turnover, though most run on a minimum contract term. Businesses can choose confidential discounting or a factoring service where the lender runs collections. We compare options remotely for Leeds companies, looking at advance rates, fees and contract lengths.

Invoice finance and the Leeds economy
West Yorkshire is home to over 18,000 business, financial and professional services firms, employing about 192,000 people. Many of them, along with the city's recruitment agencies, IT consultancies and manufacturers, sell to large organisations that pay on 30 to 60 days or longer. That gap between doing the work and being paid is what invoice finance is designed for.

Payment rules are changing. In March 2026 the government confirmed plans for a 60-day ceiling on payment terms when larger businesses buy from smaller suppliers, and for statutory late-payment interest to apply to all business contracts, though these are not expected before 2027. Until then, if a contract says nothing about interest, you can already claim statutory interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate on late invoices.

Invoice Finance in Leeds: questions
Can a Leeds recruitment agency use invoice finance?
Yes. Recruitment agencies are among the most frequent users, especially for temporary and contract placements where workers are paid weekly but clients pay monthly. Some lenders also offer payroll and back-office support alongside the funding.
How much can a Leeds business raise through invoice finance?
It depends on the value and quality of your invoices. Lenders commonly advance 80–90% of approved invoices. A company that relies on one or two large customers may receive a lower percentage.
Do I need to visit an office in Leeds?
No. We work with Leeds companies by phone, email and video, and lenders carry out their checks remotely. For larger facilities, a lender may ask to visit or audit your sales ledger.
Our clients pay on 60 days or more. Will the new payment rules help?
They should in time, but they are not law yet and are not expected before 2027. Invoice finance can release cash from those invoices now, and where your contract is silent on interest you can already charge statutory interest on late payments.
Can construction subcontractors in West Yorkshire use invoice finance?
It is harder. Applications for payment, retentions and set-off make construction invoices less straightforward, so many lenders exclude them. A few specialist lenders do fund construction, and a business loan can be an alternative.
