Our lender panel

The main types of business lender

Business lenders fall into a few broad groups, and each suits different kinds of deal. Our panel is small and growing: the lenders we currently work with are shown on our lenders page. We do not cover every lender in the market.

  • High street banks

Often the lowest cost for established, profitable businesses with strong accounts and security, but usually slower, with stricter criteria.

  • Challenger banks

Newer banks, often with quicker decisions and an appetite for established SMEs and particular sectors.

  • Specialist lenders

Focused on one product (invoice finance, asset finance, trade finance or merchant cash advance) and often more flexible on criteria within it.

  • Alternative & private lenders

Can move quickly on complex, time-critical or non-standard deals, usually at a higher cost.

The lenders we currently work with are shown on this page. The right lender changes with each deal, and lenders’ appetites change over time, so your relationship manager will explain which lenders on our panel are likely to suit your company.

How we choose which lenders to approach

  • Whether your business meets the lender’s published criteria: trading history, turnover, sector and credit profile.
  • The security and personal guarantees the lender usually asks for.
  • The likely total cost, including arrangement and other fees.
  • How quickly the lender typically makes decisions and releases funds.

Every lender makes its own lending decision. We cannot guarantee that any lender will offer finance.

01

Which business finance lenders do we work with?

We currently work with a small, growing panel of business finance lenders: Cashera, Nucleus, Triffin and FlexyKap. We work with them as partners and show their logos with their permission.

We do not cover the whole market. If your company's needs fall outside what lenders on our panel consider, we will tell you.

02

What does it mean that a lender is on our panel?

It means we work with that lender and can introduce suitable applications to it. It does not mean the lender will approve your application.

Each lender sets its own criteria, pricing and decisions, including its own minimum trading period and turnover requirements. Lenders run their own credit checks after you decide to apply.

Lenders can also change their criteria over time. A lender that would not consider your company today may look again later, for example once the company has filed another year of accounts.

03

How do we decide which lender to suggest?

We put forward lenders we believe are suitable for your company's needs, based on what the finance is for and each lender's criteria. We do not let commission decide which lender we suggest.

Commission can differ between lenders, and you can ask us how much we will receive. More detail is on how we are paid.

04

Why might only one lender, or none, be suitable?

Because each lender has its own criteria, a company may meet the requirements of several lenders on our panel, only one, or none. Sending applications to lenders that are unlikely to approve can add credit searches without helping you.

The factors that most often narrow the choice are how long the company has traded, turnover, sector, existing borrowing and credit history. Our guide on how to improve your business credit score covers practical steps if credit history is holding you back.

05

What should you check in any lender's offer?

Business finance lenders price and structure finance differently, so compare offers on total cost and conditions rather than one headline figure. The main points to check are:

  • how the cost is expressed: an interest rate on a loan, a factor rate on a merchant cash advance (see merchant cash advance factor rates) or service and discount fees on invoice finance
  • all fees, including arrangement, documentation and early settlement charges
  • whether the finance is secured and whether a personal guarantee is required (see secured vs unsecured business loans)
  • notice periods, minimum terms and what happens if a payment is missed
06

Do we share your details with every lender on the panel?

No. We only share your details with a lender with your agreement, for the purpose of arranging finance. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.

More questions

Do you work with every lender in the market?

No. We work with a small, growing panel of lenders, shown on this page, and we do not cover the whole market.

Can I approach a lender directly instead?

Yes. You are free to approach any lender yourself. Using us means a relationship manager handles the application with you from enquiry until the lender pays out the funds, at no fee to you.

Do the lenders pay you?

Yes. The lender pays us a commission when your finance completes. We do not charge you a fee.

Will more lenders join the panel?

Our panel is small and growing. The lenders named on this page are the ones we currently work with.
