How we are paid

No fee to you, and how lender commission works.

Welcome Finance (a trading name of Welcome Business Solutions Ltd) is a commercial finance broker, not a lender. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and we only arrange unregulated business finance for UK limited companies, LLPs and partnerships of four or more partners.

How we are paid

  • Commission from the lender: the lender pays us a commission when your finance completes. It is often linked to the amount you borrow and can vary between lenders and products.
  • No broker fee from you: we do not charge your business a fee for our service.

What you can ask us

  • Whether we will receive commission, who pays it and how much (or, if it is not yet known, how it is worked out).
  • Whether any arrangement with a lender could affect which lenders we show you or recommend.

Commission is paid by the lender, not directly by you, but lenders build their costs into their pricing, so it may be reflected in the rate or fees you pay. You can ask us at any time what we will earn from a particular deal.

Questions?

Call 020 8609 3897 or email support@welcomefinance.co.uk and we will explain exactly how a particular deal is paid for.

Our terms of business set out how we work with you, how we are paid and what each side is responsible for.

01

What is broker commission?

Broker commission is a payment a lender makes to a broker when finance the broker arranged completes. Broker commission from the lender is how Welcome Finance is paid: we do not charge you a fee.

We are paid when your finance completes. Until then, you can stop at any point and you will not owe us anything.

02

How is our commission worked out?

Commission may be a fixed amount or a percentage of the amount borrowed. It may differ between lenders and between products.

Because it varies, the commission on one deal can be different from another, even for a similar amount. That is why we cannot quote a single figure for every deal.

Whatever form it takes, the commission is paid by the lender. You do not pay it to us directly, although, as explained below, it may be reflected in the cost of the finance.

03

Can I find out how much commission you receive?

Yes. The lender pays us a commission when your finance completes, and if you ask, we tell you how much we will receive.

You can ask your relationship manager at any stage, by phone, email, chat or WhatsApp. We aim to reply within 4 business working hours, meaning Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.

04

Does commission affect what your company pays?

It can. Commission is paid by the lender, not by you, but it may be built into the cost of the finance the lender offers.

That is why we encourage you to compare offers on total cost: everything you will repay over the full term, plus all fees. Our guide to business loan interest rates explains how lenders price, and the business loan calculator helps you estimate repayments.

When you compare offers, look at the total repayable, the fees, any security or personal guarantee, and the early settlement terms. Your relationship manager can set these side by side so the differences are clear.

05

Does commission influence which lender we suggest?

No. We do not let commission decide which lender we suggest. We put forward lenders we believe are suitable for your company's needs. We only put an application forward where the finance looks affordable for your company, based on what you tell us, and the lender makes its own affordability checks.

You can see the lenders we currently work with on our lenders page.

06

What standards do we follow?

Welcome Business Solutions Ltd is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We aim to follow the same standards of fair, clear and not misleading information that apply to regulated brokers.

We arrange unregulated business finance only, so read every agreement carefully and take independent advice if anything is unclear. Our guide to regulated vs unregulated business finance explains what this means.
